(So I've wanted to say that for a few days now, but I was afraid the American political correctness in me would not allow me to do so. Oh well!)
I just came back from my vacation in Moscow and Paris, both about which I promise to write shortly. It was incredible and very much an eye opening experience. My quick stay in Moscow allowed me to witness the conflicting nature of the two major cities of Russia, and my vacation in Paris provided yet another perspective of culture and civilization very different from American, but severely different from Russian. While away, I also realized how much I loved and missed St. Petersburg. Paris was magical, romantic, and a charming city, but it has never been my home, and I never had to have a love-hate relationship with France. Hmm, we always are toughest on our own families.
Speaking of families, I cannot believe it will be Thanksgiving next week. I just want to say how sorry I am for missing it this year; however I am so happy that I will be spending this Christmas with my family. I miss you all! Christmas in Hawaii is not like Christmas in New York. I think being in Russia also made me realize how much I love New York and America (too many realizations here). So have a wonderful thanksgiving, and make sure to skype or call me. (8-931-202-1654) That night I'm going to see the opera Queen of Spades, and afterwards we're having Smolny Prom at a local club. I'll guess I'll just have to arrive fashionably late. I then have a three-day weekend which I am not too sure of what I'll be doing yet. I'd really like to go snowboarding, but the best skiing is in the Northern Caucasus, and we are not allowed to travel there, plus it's pretty far. If I don't go skiing, I might try to visit another town or just do some more sightseeing around St. Petersburg. I really hope it snows more (it snowed yesterday, but it was just off the verge of rain). I really want to take a horse carriage around the city at night with the buildings and bridges lit up at night with snow glowing on the ground below.
