Hi everyone! Actually I am quite surprised to hear about how many followers I have. And I confess, I have been avoiding writing for a little while. I do have a couple of good reasons for doing so: 1. Moving to a new place can often be a little difficult to adjust to at first (and it was). 2. Things are not always as anticipated. et 3. I don't think it's good to write on first impressions alone, because it can give the wrong perspective on a place to readers. In addition to those reasons I am incredibly busy. I know, I know, you may be wondering at what I could be possibly busy doing now that I've graduated. However, I am a very goal and detailed oriented individual, thereby making me perpetually busy planning and learning new things.
How I spend my days….
Working in the garden eight to five, with a nice hour an a half break for lunch
Eating (consumes about 3-3.5 hours each day…and this is only lunch and dinner, I spend about 5 minutes eating granola/muesli avec milk for breakfast) and this 'eating' category includes 'listening' to LONG conversations…all in French, and after I get tired from trying to understand, I start imagining funny 'make-believe' conversations…and sometimes, the chef sports a pig head while talking… you must remember since I don't do much talking I occupy myself with drinking more wine ;)
Showering…this happens more often then I'd like, because long days in the garden require me to cleanse myself daily…pweh…waste of precious time
Looking up words in the dictionary, bablefish, and word reference
Researching for my Fulbright application/project (I should probably write about my idea)
READING!! I've been reading so much here, because my host, Didier, has an INCREDIBLE personal library focused around gardens and landscape architecture. The problem when I go in there is that I get overwhelmed and want to grad everything off the shelves, but must restrain myself. I'd post a picture, but I promised that I wouldn't publish any pictures of the library
Playing piano, yes I've started again, and yes they have two beautiful pianos, one is the library that is a baby grande ;)
Playing chess with Henry, an 84 year old French gentlemen that is friends with the cook and actually enjoys talking with me (in French) teaching me how to be good at chess, and telling me stories
Watching French movies from Didier's fabulous collection
Well, that's about it for now, because I'd like to read a little before going to bed (I usually sleep from 11-7)
Oh and I get to spend the weekend in Paris!! AND it's the start of sale season in France. Did I mention I look really good in Dior? this could be dangerous ;)
